SIDEWALL – HOT AREA

This section of the cooler is subjected to fluctuations in temperature, high thermal shock and chemical attacks.
The choice of the best refracories lies on products that posses superior cold crushing strenght, along with imperturbability to themal shock and chemical abrasive agents.

KILN HOOD

NOSE RING

Refractories that are designed for the kiln nose ring endure some of the most intense and persistent wear from various types of chemical attack and physical processes.

SMOKE CHAMBER

The smoke chamber is exposed to all the worst demageful entities occurring in the cement manufacturing process. Such as abrasion , alkali corrosion ,build-ups, high temperature ( 1300°C) , and severe thermal shocks.

When treating this area the refractory choice is often a not trivial one, and requires a tailor made solutions preceded by an exhaustive expertise analysis.
Lintec offers a wide range of high-density, and no wetting attitude/low porosity castables. Range includes castables with different content of Zirconia, Silicon Carbide , Corundum.

RISER DUCT

The concomitance, into the hot part, of multiple phenomena such as high gas temperature, chlorine-alkali and sulphur  circulations,build up formation and thermal shocks, may be demageful and causing the collapse of the refractory lining. Alkali penetration ,uppermost,may cause the lining expansion and spalling.

For these specific area the installed refractory linings should combine different features : Alkali resistance, reducing coating formation, high abrasion resistance and strength, shorter drying and heating up time.
Superior mullite or andalusite based refractories are the best choice for the calciner hotter zones. Lintec  offer consists in monolithic solutions, with or without silicon carbide and/or zirconia.

LOWER STAGES

Superior Chamotte  or Andalusite based refractories is  the best choice for the lower cyclones of the pre-heater tower providing a performing and reliable solution.  Our offer  consists of both monolithic and brick solutions, with or without Silicon Carbide and/or Zirconia.

UPPER AND MIDDLE STAGES.

Chamotte based refractories with very high resistance to alkali , chlorides and solphate attacks are the most adeguate one for the upper cyclones.

BURNER

The burner lance is a critical area with specific needs affected by kiln and grid cooler design, raw materials used, and fuel type.  Strong thermal load, abrasion, infiltration and chemical attack are all factors that must to be accounted when choosing its refractory lining.

DESCENDING DUCT

For this specific area the installed refractory linings should combine different features : Alkali resistance , reducing coating formation effect, high abrasion resistance and strength, shorter drying and heating up time.

Before choosing any kind of refractory material an accurate investigation must be executed ,the expertise must consider the process conditions along with the mechanical status of the calciner.

CALCINER UPPER PART

The upper part of the calciner tower is not often exposed to severe condition. The best choice for this area are castables based on chamotte with good attributes versus the chemical attack of alkalis, chlorine, sulfur alkaliesand Sulfur.
Lining must be designed to meet the specific construction requirements for this area which may include large ducts and vaults.

TERTIARY AIR DUCT AND DAMPER

Tertiary air duct diverted by kiln hood or the grate cooler contains highly abrasive clinker dust as well as residual alkali vapors. Flowing through the tertiary air duct at a velocity of 25-30 m/s and an initial temperature of about 1050 °C the clinker dust wears down the lining, particularly at bends and dampers.
Therefore in this instance, abrasion and alkali resistance is the primary selection criteria for the refractory lining.
Lintec for this area designed castables with superior wear resistance based on fused and tabular allumina.

BULL NOSE AND ROOF

The most appropriate solution for this area of the grate cooler are precast components. These solutions combines the diversity of monolithics with the advantage of “dry” mould products: fast installation, long lifetime, and quick maintenance. The Lintec Precast Lining system is based on standard shapes to enable a smooth and easy installation. The system is developed in co-operation with installation companies, and taking care of customers requirements.
